WAWSA Spotlight: Kim Schilke, CFO

Kim Schilke, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Business Manager, oversees the daily accounting operations and human resource duties for WAWSA.  She also prepares the monthly financial reports and annual budgets for the WAWSA Board as well as the monthly reporting to the North Dakota Industrial Commission and the Bank of North Dakota.

“I like that my job keeps evolving and I work with some great people. When I started my job with WAWSA six years ago there were just two employees; myself and Jaret Wirtz, the Executive Director.  Since then we have grown to 14 employees,” says Kim.

She and her husband of 40 years, Grant, farmed near Hanks and Zahl until 2005. Her friends from the area receive high quality drinking water now, thanks to WAWSA. “Many people in the Grenora and Blacktail Dam area are enjoying clear drinking water with no rust and no odor.  They are thankful for the rural water WAWSA provides,” says Kim.

The Schilkes have three adult children and five grandchildren.  In their free time, they like to travel, especially to see their kids and grandkids.  Kim also loves to read and enjoys doing crafts when she has the time.
